Nyboe started DJ'ing on vinyl records back in 2005 after being asked for years to DJ's at smaller hip hop jams around Denmark, as he had already made a name for himself as a music beat writer, reviewer, curator and host.

Feeling that DJ'ing should be done a very specific way coming from hiphop, he felt that you need to have two turntable and a mixer and also have a certain skill set. All it took though was seeing a well-known name not having his best day behind the decks and he and a friend agreed that they could do it better. So Nyboe agree to play at his first jam - Total Undergrund - in the small town of Nykøbing Mors, with his friend Narko Mad Man, who would later change his name to Analyse and shift into producing other genres of music.

After about a year Nyboe started DJ'ing with another friend, the Danish producer O-Jay. They played together for a few years and release a mixtape and was also crowned DJ's of the Month by We Are Music / wamdjs in October 2008.

Shortly after this O-Jay stopped DJ'ing and Nyboe started DJ'ing alone, still mostly playing at hIp hop jams and concerts as not just the resident DJ, but also DJ'ing for a number of Danish rap artists and American artists coming to Denmark needing a DJ. He also frequented the night clubs and parties around Aarhus and throughout Denmark. This went on for some years until he had a serious neck injury in the fall of 2012 that would keep him out of DJ'ing and having to reinvent himself completely.

This meant leaving vinyl completely behind for a while and switching 100% to Serato Vinyl. This also meant that he was able to do more complex sets and within the first year of starting over again after rehabbing his body and mind he won Reloop's Mixtape Monday competition with a live-mix recorded on tour with Kejser A at Lille Vega in Copenhagen.

After playing for some years and also having worked on his own hip hop vinyl record label Idiotsikker Records, Nyboe started working at the legendary Danish hip hop record label and store Run For Cover. Here he was responsible for everything vinyl, being the production and the import and sales of thousand upon thousands of hip hop vinyl records. He also starting doing more podcasting - hosting the widely successful Run For Cover Cast for about 80 episodes until the store went bankrupt in 2023.

During the Lockdown in 2020 Nyboe starting doing a bunch of live streaming while DJ'ing from his living room, but would unfortunately suffer another serious neck injury, that would have him out of DJ for another two years, until he started back up in 2022.

Back in 2017 Nyboe starting taking all-vinyl gigs again and did about half and half all-vinyl and Serato-vinyl gigs until he starting going all-in once again on all-vinyl DJ'ing in 2023. Since then he's played mostly only all-vinyl gigs.

Nyboe also starting focusing more on mixtapes, as he had mostly only done live-recorded mixes for about 15 years, while also winning several mixtape competitions with his live-mixes.

He quickly won Wax Poetics & Polaroid's DJ-mix competition in 2023 and has since created exclusive mixtapes and live streams for radio shows, labels and brands around the world like WEFUNK in Canada, 1200Twelves w/ DJ D Worldwide in Australia, Fine Cuts Radio in France, Alleycat Anthem in Sweden, 45 Day in the UK and Pasteelo, Soundtrack Café, Pana Radio, Funky Tuesday and more in Denmark.

In the last couple of years Nyboe has also shifted towards not just playing vinyl-only gigs, but also playing more at local wine bars, cafés and bars. Mostly because it really fits his style - especially often when playing more jazz-funk, library music, soundtracks, breaks, rare grooves etc - but also because there are no longer really any hip hop jams and very few hip hop concerts for him to play at anymore.

He has also started his own podcast Nyboe's Pod and the radio show VINYL ECHOES at Black Rhino Radio in Romania with djf1bi, which he now is doing as the sole host.

So if you need an all-vinyl DJ playing either hip hop and beats or jazz-funk, breaks, library and so on or a mixture of both for your wine bar, café, bar, concert, jam, radio show or live stream, go to the booking formula on this page or write an e-mail by clicking here to book Nyboe.

Listen to WaxWorks on Black Rhino Radio

After a year and 12 episodes of VINYL ECHOES and three solo episodes on, Nyboe felt it was time for a change, and that's how WaxWorks was born. This new show will feature a different guest every month, diving deep into topics around hip-hop, vinyl records and analogue media.

Each episode will explore everything from vinyl collecting, sampling, and production to DJ’ing and beyond. The focus is on providing in-depth conversations, introducing listeners to music and music culture they might not have encountered before.
Given Nyboe’s roots in Denmark, many episodes will shine a spotlight on lesser-known aspects of Danish music culture and history, presented in a way that resonates with a global audience. Additionally, the show will highlight Danish DJs and collectors who specialize in diverse genres, including library music, Persian grooves, Brazilian records, and more. International artists will also share their stories, offering a broad and varied perspective on music.

Nyboe’s hope is that WaxWorks will make this rich world of music more accessible to fans and collectors from all cultures, fostering connections between countries, genres and people.
