Last month I was invited to participate in 45 Day's Uplifting Mix series - a series of mixtapes on only 7" vinyl with the theme "uplifting music that lifts your spirit".
For this challenge I had to dig deep into my 7” collection as most of the music I listen to and play is usually more dark in its themes. So I went for some of the more uplifting and uptempo tracks in my collection - mainly jazz, soul and afro. 23 tracks from countries like Denmark, Italy, Turkey, Iran, France, Australia, USA, UK and Norway.
Still with a hip hop twist though and some alternative versions of tracks you might know.
What’s uplifting is up for interpretation, but I have tried to put my own spin on what lifts your spirit, and mine.
45 Day is a celebration of the humble 7” vinyl record with DJs from around the world recording a 45-minute all 45s mix.
